Configure Asset Gallery

Summary

Configure Asset Gallery

The asset gallery lets end users browse, preview, and download media files attached to products — including images, PDFs, and videos. By configuring asset gallery filters, you give users the tools to quickly find the specific assets they need.

How Assets Appear in Digital Showroom

Assets in Digital Showroom come from your Akeneo PIM. When a product has linked assets (through asset collections, asset attributes, or media attributes), those assets automatically appear on the product's Medias & Files tab. End users can browse thumbnails, preview assets in a lightbox, and download individual files.

The filters you configure here appear at the top of the asset gallery, allowing users to narrow down the displayed assets.

Supported Filter Types

The asset gallery filter configuration offers three categories of filters:

  • Asset Families: A built-in system filter that lets users filter by the asset family (a group of related assets, as defined in the Akeneo PIM). For example, you might have asset families for "Product Photos", "Technical Drawings", or "Marketing Materials".
  • Media Type: A built-in system filter that lets users filter by the type of media: images, PDFs, or videos.
  • Asset Attributes: Individual attributes defined on your asset families in the PIM. Each attribute shows its label, code, type, and which asset families it belongs to.
  1. Go to Admin > Portfolios and click on the portfolio you want to configure.
  2. In the left sidebar, click on Asset Gallery Filters.
  3. Browse the list of available filters. The Asset Families and Media Type system filters appear at the top of the list.
  4. Use the search bar to find a specific attribute by name or code.
  5. Check the box next to each filter you want to enable. You can select up to 20 filters.
  6. To remove a filter, uncheck the box next to it.
  7. Click Save to apply your changes.

Tip: The counter next to the tab title (for example, "2 / 20") shows how many filters you have selected out of the maximum allowed.

Understanding the Filter Table

Each row in the filter table displays the following information:

Column Description
Label The translated name of the attribute
Code The technical code of the attribute
Type The attribute type (or "System" for built-in filters)
Families Which asset families this attribute belongs to (asset attributes only)
Note: If no asset attributes appear in the list, your Akeneo PIM may not have asset families configured, or the current portfolio may not have products with linked assets. Check your PIM configuration if you expected to see asset attributes here.

What End Users See

After you save your filter configuration, end users visiting the Medias & Files tab on a product details page can use the enabled filters to narrow down the displayed assets. For example, a user could filter to see only "Product Photos" (asset family) that are "Images" (media type), making it easy to find the right visual assets.
