Asset collection mapping

Summary

Asset collection mapping

This section provides an overview of asset collection mapping as file metafields in the Akeneo App for Shopify.

Asset collections

Asset collections allow you to link files (such as images, videos, PDFs, and others) in the asset manager to your products in the PIM. The app allows you to synchronize these asset collections as file metafields in Shopify. This feature allows, for example, the addition of a user manual to the product detail page or the inclusion of multiple images for Shopify variants.

You can map up to 10 asset collections to be synchronized as file metafields.

Please note that asset collections can also be synchronized as media (images & videos). For more information, please visit this page.

How to map asset collections as file metafields?

  1. In the app, click on the Metafields tab and select From PIM asset collections.
  2. You can now map an asset collection
  3. Select an asset attribute - media in the asset family related to your asset collection to define file to synchronize.
  4. Select an asset attribute - alt-text in the asset family related to your asset collection to define file alt-text.
  5. Click on Save.

Please note that unmapping asset collections will remove the metafield definitions from Shopify, but the files will not be deleted.
