What is the Comparison step?
The new comparison step provides precise control over file data before integration into the Akeneo PIM. It enables a clear visualization of differences between the values in the file and existing information in the PIM, allowing verification of accuracy and preventing unintended overwrites. This ensures informed decisions on which changes to approve or reject, maintaining data integrity and consistency.
Both updated and new products are pushed to the PIM at the very end of the job.
How to use it?
- By default, this step only displays the attributes (columns) where at least one new value from the file is detected.
- New values from the file are accepted by default. However, you can reject them manually. If all new values for a product are rejected, that product will not be updated in the PIM during the subsequent push.
- You can reject values manually in the following ways:
- One by one: Click directly on the cell containing the new value and select “Reject new value.”
- By attribute (bulk): Select the desired column and click “Reject new values.”
- By product: Select the product row and click “Reject new values.”

Limitations
- Unsupported PIM attributes: table, media link, image, and asset collection.
- The values from the PIM are retrieved at the beginning of the step. If these values are updated in your PIM after the step has started, the table displayed in this step will not reflect those updates. You will have to go back to the previous step and reload the comparison step to get an updated view of your PIM catalog.
- The comparison step currently does not support pagination. All updated products with changes will be displayed, which could be hard to manage for complex input files. Use smaller files if you encounter issues.
- There is no fast mode for the comparison step. At the moment, you are not able to automatically accept/reject values for specific attributes.
