Channel Notifications

Summary

Overview

Channel Notifications in Akeneo Activation keep you informed about updates related to the channels you work with. By following channels of interest, you can subscribe and unsubscribe, stay informed about key syndication events such as blocking requirement changes and failed exports, and act to keep your syndication feeds running smoothly.

Main features

  • Follow a channel: On any channel page in Activation, a Follow button is displayed in the channel header.
  • Email notifications: When you follow a channel, you receive email notifications about important updates, such as requirement blocking changes, failed product exports, order errors, and order cancellation requests.
  • Notification settings: In My Settings in Activation, you can turn notifications on or off and control the notification cadence.

How does it work?

Follow mechanism

For any Activation channel you are connected to, a Follow button appears in the channel's header at the top of the page.

  • Clicking Follow subscribes you to email notifications for events on that channel.
  • Clicking Follow again unfollows the channel and stops all notifications for that channel.

The animation above shows the Follow and Unfollow button in the channel header in Akeneo Activation.

There are no limits to the number of channels you can follow.

Notification settings

As soon as you follow a channel, a My Settings tab becomes available in the left panel of Activation. From there, you can turn notifications on or off and control their cadence.

  1. In Activation, go to My Settings in the left panel.
  2. Select the notification cadence you want (for example, from Daily to Weekly).
  3. Click Save.

Email notifications

Once you follow a channel in Akeneo Activation, you receive email notifications for important syndication events. The following notification types are available.

Requirement blocking change

By default, you receive one daily email notification, sent at 1:00 AM CET, when a blocking change has been detected in the requirements of an Activation channel you follow.

  • Content: The email contains information about the blocking changes.
  • Call to action: Click View changes to go to the Requirement Change Dashboard in Akeneo Activation.

On the Requirement Change Dashboard, you can review the catalogs and products impacted by the changes, and navigate directly to your PIM to update product content and mapping. See Channel Requirements Dashboard for more details.

Failed product export

By default, you receive one daily email notification when the latest product export for a channel you follow fails — for example, if the destination cannot be reached or if the credentials are no longer valid.

  • Content: The email contains information about the channel's latest failed product export.
  • Call to action: Click View reports to go to the channel reports page in Akeneo Activation, where you can troubleshoot the failed export. See Job Reporting for more details.

  • Daily

  • Every 6 hours

When opening a link from an email notification, you may be redirected to the login page and need to sign in again — in Activation and possibly in the PIM.

For requirement blocking changes and failed product exports, you receive a maximum of 1 email per day regardless of how many channels you follow. Order error and order cancellation notifications follow the cadence you configure in My Settings.
