We’re excited to introduce “Mandatory Attribute”s in Akeneo PIM—a new setting designed to boost your data quality by ensuring every product and product model is fully enriched. Here’s what it offers:

• Define Required Attributes:
  Specify which attributes must be completed when creating or updating products or product models.
• Prevent Incomplete Entries:
  Users are blocked from saving products that are missing mandatory information, whether they work in the UI, via imports, or through the API.
• Improve Data Governance:
  Enhance overall data completeness and consistency, ensuring that critical details like SKU, numbers, and text fields are always captured.
• Eligible Attribute Types:
  The following attribute types can be marked as mandatory: Identifier, Simple Select, Number, Reference Entity Single Link, Text, Text Area, and Yes/No. (Note: Multi-select and Reference Entity Multiple Link are not supported.)

1.  Flexible Attribute Expansion:
   • Seamlessly convert non-localizable attributes to localizable ones (and vice versa)
   • Switch non-scopable attributes to scopable ones (and vice versa)
   • Empower independent adjustments, reducing Time To Model and boosting agility
     Please note that this change of property cannot be made, if the attribute is: 
     - A price, a table, or an identifier attribute 
     - Unique 
     - Set as the main image or set as label Set as a variant axis
     - In a triggering attribute of an active dependency
     - When the attribute is mandatory
      
2. Reordering Variant Axes:
   • Easily rearrange variant axes directly in the UI, via Import/Export, or through the API
   • Keep your product data organized and aligned with your evolving business needs
      
3. Increased Character Limit for Family Variant Codes & Labels:
   • Expanded from 100 to 255 characters, allowing for more descriptive and detailed product identifiers
   • Supports richer, more nuanced data modeling

• Global Search aka Ctrl + K:
  Use Ctrl/Command + K (or click the new search icon) to instantly search across products, product models, families, and categories, and even navigate to almost every menu entry. 
  This innovative tool streamlines navigation and simplifies onboarding by giving you rapid access to the entire PIM data model.
   
• Ctrl + Click in the Grid:
  Now, you can Ctrl+Click (or use a middle mouse click) to open products in a new tab directly from the grid. 
  This small yet impactful feature significantly accelerates your workflow, allowing you to multitask and manage data more efficiently.

GTIN Validation: Ensure Data Accuracy & Global Compliance

We're excited to announce a new GTIN validation feature for identifier and text attributes in Akeneo PIM! 
This enhancement ensures your product data meets global standards by automatically validating GTINs based on the following criteria:

• Numeric Only: GTINs must contain numbers exclusively.
• Valid Length: Acceptable GTIN lengths are 8, 12, 13, or 14 digits.
• Checksum Verification: The correct check digit is confirmed using a checksum validation.

This new validation not only boosts data accuracy but also reinforces compliance, giving you greater confidence in the integrity of your product information.
