Purpose of the Integration

The primary purpose of those packages is to accelerate the integration between SAP and Akeneo PIM. This seamless data transfer ensures that all material-related information is synchronized according to your business needs, enabling the PIM system to stay up-to-date with SAP’s material data. By automating this process, businesses can eliminate the need for manual data entry, ensuring the accuracy and consistency of product information across both systems.

Scope of the packages

These integrations are kickstarter packages to be implemented in the Integration Suite of SAP ERP. It needs to be implemented in a broader integration project. 

This integration focuses solely on the replication of Material Master Data from SAP to the PIM system. It operates as a background process, with no direct impact on core business processes. The automated synchronization ensures data consistency between the two systems without interrupting or altering the main business workflows, allowing for smooth operations in parallel with ongoing business activities.

The main packages are:

• S/4Hana to Akeneo PIM: accelerate mapping and synchronization
• Akeneo PIM to S/4Hana: configure and connection with Akeneo event platform, map and synchronize

Additionally, An OPEN API generator package is proposed to generate a file containing the structure of the PIM to be loaded in the message mapping of the packages.

The OPEN API generator

Each Akeneo PIM has a unique data model with unique code. To speed up the mapping step in the packages, Akeneo developed an OPEN API generator package. The end result is a file containing structural data like attributes, family, locales, channel of the targeted PIM. The structure is retrieved with the desired filters. Once generated, this file needs to be downloaded in the message mapping step of the package.
